Data licensing for operating companies

Get paid $100K to $4M for your data.

There is no established market for operating data yet. Payouts depend on size, headcount, and what is unique in the record, and nobody knows what yours is worth until buyers bid. AI labs need real operating history. DataShelf packages, de-identifies, and places yours with the partner that values it most. You keep the business and the files.

Counsel-drafted paper. Competitive bids from multiple AI buyers, so you never sell once at the first price offered.

01

Premium while the category is new

Owners who license clean operating history early capture more of the value than those who wait until this is ordinary.

02

Matched to the right partner

The same record can be worth very different amounts depending on who needs it. We find the best fit so you get paid more.

03

You keep the company

This is a license, not a sale. Sensitive identifiers are removed before a partner sees anything. Access stays limited.

Process

How it works

  1. Describe what you have

Start the data manifest. Answers first, not files. Systems, volume, rights, and a few commercial details.

  2. Short fit call

If it looks promising, we talk through scope, timing, and what a clean package would include.

  3. Package and de-identify

We help assemble samples. Names, account numbers, and other identifiers are removed or obscured before pricing.

  4. License and get paid

We match the record to the partner that values it most, sign the agreement, and you get paid per the paper.

Who this is for

Companies with real operating history.

Legal, accounting, finance, manufacturing, real estate, IT and MSPs, software, construction, logistics, hospitality, and other professional services. Length and texture of the record matter more than headcount or ownership structure.

DataShelf is non-medical. Medical, clinical, or PHI records go through our sister company.

What you get

A payout, and nothing else changes.

One-time payout

Priced on desk headcount and how complete the corpus is.

Anonymized, confidential

Anonymization by the buyer before any use, identity confidential under the agreement.

Your data stays yours

Licenses are non-exclusive; you keep operating exactly as before.

One point of contact

One person, through the whole process.

FAQ

Questions owners ask first.

Anything else, write to hello@datashelf.ai.

Why now?

AI labs used to train on the open web. That well is running dry. They now pay for real operating history: the files a company already produced by doing the work. Most owners have never been asked, because the category is new.

What happens to the data?

The first form is answers, not files. Samples are de-identified before anyone prices a license. A partner receives the cleaned record under contract to train or evaluate models, not as a customer list. You keep the underlying files. We do not name who licensed which data.

How much do you get paid?

It depends on how long you have been operating, what is in the record, and which partner wants it. We do not quote a number until we have seen what you have. If it is not worth much, we say so.
