Information we collect
We collect the following information when you use the site, send us a form, upload files, or sign in.
Intake and contact details
If you submit the intake form or email us, we collect what you send: your name, email address, company, and the answers you give about the business and its records.
Files and samples
If a business uploads files or samples, we collect those files and the details that come with the upload, such as the company name and the person who sent them.
Google sign-in
If you sign in with Google for admin or partner access, we receive basic profile information from your Google account: your name and your email address. We use that information only to authenticate admin and partner access. We do not request your Google files, mail, or contacts through sign-in.
Site use
We store a random identifier in your browser so we can understand which of our own pages are used. We do not send that identifier to advertising networks. Our hosting provider keeps ordinary technical logs, such as IP address, browser type, and the page requested, to run and protect the site. When you sign in, we set an essential cookie that keeps the session.
How we use information
- To read an inquiry and discuss whether a set of records may be licensed.
- To prepare that discussion and, with the submitter's consent, coordinate a possible license with prospective buyers.
- To authenticate admin and partner access.
- To operate, secure, and maintain the site.
- To keep records we are required to keep for legal, tax, accounting, or security reasons.
We do not sell personal information. We do not use it for advertising, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
How we share information
We share intake submissions, contact details, and uploaded files or samples with a prospective buyer only when both of these are true: the buyer is under a nondisclosure agreement, and the business that submitted the information has consented to that sharing. We do not share a submission with a buyer without that consent.
We also use service providers to host the site, deliver email, and store files. They process information for us only so they can provide those services.
We may disclose information if the law requires it, or to protect the rights, safety, and property of DataShelf, our users, or others.
We do not sell Google user data, and we do not share it with buyers. The next section describes that limit.
Google user data
Google sign-in gives DataShelf your name and email address. We use them only to authenticate admin and partner access: to confirm who is signing in and to keep that session. We do not use Google user data for any other purpose.
DataShelf's use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
- We use Google user data only to provide the sign-in the user requested.
- We do not sell Google user data.
- We do not use Google user data for advertising or to determine creditworthiness.
- We do not use Google user data to train generalized artificial intelligence or machine learning models.
- People at DataShelf do not read Google user data except to provide or secure the sign-in, to comply with law, or with the user's consent.
- We do not transfer Google user data to others except to provide the sign-in, to comply with law, or with the user's consent. Service providers that host the sign-in may process it only for that purpose.
Retention and deletion
Sample files a business uploads are deleted within 30 days.
We keep intake submissions and contact records while we are working with you, and for a period afterward as ordinary business records. You may ask us to delete them. We will delete them unless we need to keep a copy for a legal, tax, accounting, or security reason.
We keep a Google name and email only while that person has admin or partner access. When the access ends, we delete them from our sign-in records, unless we need to keep a security or legal log.
The sign-in cookie lasts for the session, up to 30 days. You can clear it in your browser.
Security
We limit who can open submissions and sign-in records. The site is served over HTTPS, and uploads are stored in access-controlled storage. No method of storage or transmission is perfectly secure. If you believe an account or a submission was exposed, email daniel@datashelf.ai.
Your choices
Email daniel@datashelf.ai to ask what we hold about you, to correct it, or to delete it. You can also withdraw consent to further sharing of a submission with buyers, or ask us to close admin or partner access. We may need to confirm that the request comes from you. Withdrawing consent does not undo sharing that already happened with your consent.
California notice
If you are a California resident, you may ask us to know, correct, or delete personal information, and you may opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information. DataShelf does not sell personal information and does not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising, including Google user data.
Categories we collect:
- Identifiers, such as name, email address, company name, and a random visitor id.
- Commercial information you choose to submit about a possible license.
- Internet activity on our site, such as pages requested.
- Files and samples a business uploads.
We collect these from you and from your use of the site. If you sign in with Google, we also receive your name and email from Google. We use them for the purposes in this policy. We keep them for the periods in the retention section.
To make a request, email daniel@datashelf.ai with the subject "California privacy request." An authorized agent may submit a request with signed permission from you. We will not discriminate against you for exercising these rights.
Children
The site is for businesses. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16. If you believe we have, email daniel@datashelf.ai and we will delete it.
Changes
We post updates on this page and change the effective date. The current policy is the one at https://www.datashelf.ai/privacy. If a change materially affects how we use Google user data, we will update this policy before that change takes effect.
